Dear Educator, January 2012
Blackstone Valley
Tourism Council Riverboat “Explorer” programs are gearing up for
another year of programs along the beautiful Blackstone River!
We hope that you
will consider bringing your students on board for an educational
and fun exploration with us. You can have your choice of a
Blackstone Valley History tour or River Ecology tour, or a
combination of both. In addition, we can work with you to
develop a lesson to fit your specific curriculum needs.
Riverboat “Explorer” programs
on the Blackstone River are available starting May 7, 2012. For
more information contact Dianne at 401-724-2200 or email:
keep.bv.beautiful@gmail.com. Cell #401-439-6827.
Beginning now, you can schedule
dates in May and June 2012 just call or E-mail Dianne. The boat
departs from our Central Falls location. Visit our website for
directions
www.rivertourblackstone.com
Tours will be scheduled on a
first come, first serve basis. Cost is $250 for 60 minute
cruises. A 60 minute guided walk through “Valley Falls Heritage
Park” is also available at an additional cost of $125. Please
ask about scholarship availability to help with cost of these
programs. Some funds are available for Pawtucket, Providence,
Central Falls, Cumberland and Woonsocket schools.
If you cannot get to the river,
in-classroom lessons are available. The “river” can come to you.
Cost is $75 per half hour. Some scholarship is available.
Think about expanding your
field trip to include a tour of the Slater Mill in Pawtucket,
the Museum of Work and Culture in Woonsocket or the Capt Wilbur
Kelly House Museum in Lincoln! There is much to see and do in
the Blackstone Valley!
